Walking our Talk
Therefore I, the prisoner of the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called, Ephesians 4:1
“Walking Our Talk”
Introduction:
1. Have you ever paid attention to how you walk? ●The people in my neighborhood! ●You can tell things about
people by the way they walk. ●(Video: How people walk according to their profession)
2. The word “WALK” is found over 300 times in the Bible. ●Definition: “your path in life” (Old Testament)
●Definition: “how you live and conduct yourself” (New Testament)
3. “Walk worthy” (Eph. 4:1) & “walk no longer like the Gentiles”
●Eph. 4:17 = A changed nature demands changed behavior.
●Vs 1-17 = Walk in unity, using your gift so that we grow to maturity. (Eph. 4:1)
●Vs 17-32 = This is how you don’t walk/live and this is how you do walk worthy of who you are.
●Read Ephesians 4:17-32
I.) How We Used To Walk! (Vs. 17-19)
A. “Futility of thinking”, “hopelessly confused” “corrupted logic”, “closed minds” ●Your mind is a battlefield!
●”given themselves over to sensuality...” – indulge yourself
B. A life centered on self! (whatever makes you happy) ●I decide what’s best for me. (abortion)
C. “You, however, did not come to know Christ that way.” ●Really?
II.) How We Walk In Christ!
“Put off the old self” (throw it off!) “Put on the new self (the righteousness of God in Christ)
●change the attitude of your mind! (Romans 12:2) ●change your clothes everyday!
